Review
"Perlman's comic timing and line delivery is spot on, but it is the way he handles Hellboy's sensitive side that elevates this performance above the average comic-book hero. Petulant, sulky and perpetually tormented by jealousy, Hellboy is an overgrown adolescent, an endearingly flawed and sympathetic character. Naturally, the forces of evil have spotted his weakness. Rasputin is determined to have his apocalypse, and he has recruited Hitler's top undead assassin, a thoroughly unpleasant character in a gas mask. It's unashamedly pulp entertainment but in terms of sheer energy, style and lovely, unexpected little details, you would be hard pressed to find a more satisfying comic-book adaptation since Tim Burton's Batman." - Wendy Ide, The Times (UK)
